The 36th EAG Plenary Session has ended

On June 2, 2022, the 36th EAG Plenary Meeting ended.

The Plenary Meeting was attended by the delegations of the EAG member states: the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of India, the Republic of Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as by representatives of the EAG observer countries and organizations: Iran, South Korea, Mongolia, Serbia, USA, FATF, Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (MONEYVAL), CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Deputy Prime Minister for Financial and Economic Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Nikolai Zhuravlev, and Chairman of the Committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nariman Umarov addressed the Plenary with welcome speeches.

During the second day of the Plenary session, the reports of the Co-Chairs of the EAG Working Group on Typologies and Combating Financing of Terrorism and Crime (WGTYP), as well as of the EAG Working Group on Technical Assistance (WGTA) were presented, the results of the FATF Plenary Meeting held in March this year and the Regional Meeting of Donors were summarized, the EAG work plan for the second half of 2022 and for 2023, as well as the Schedule for the EAG 2022-26 Plenary Meetings were agreed. Reports on the activities of the International Network AML/CFT Institute and the International Financial Security Olympiad, the final stage of which will be held in October this year, aroused great interest.

In her presentation, the Head of the ITMCFM Organizational and Information Support Department, L. Stepanova, told about the education and technical assistance projects of the ITMCFM and suggested creating the Association of the EAG Training and Methodology Centers. This initiative was supported by representatives of the EAG member states.

At the end of the meeting, the results were summed up and a commemorative gift of the Zubkov Prize was awarded to the winner of the 8th Best Cooperation Contest - representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The EAG Chairman Yu. Chikhanchin, on behalf of the delegations, noted the high level of preparation and holding of the 36th Plenary Week and expressed gratitude to all the organizers of the event.
