The first meeting of the Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Conduct of the International Olympiad on Financial Security in 2025 was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Participants included Yury Chikhanchin, Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Mikhail Kotyukov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, as well as representatives from the Russian Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rossotrudnichestvo, ANPO National Priorities, various financial organizations, and rectors of participating universities.
Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that for the fifth consecutive year, the Olympiad is being held with the support of President Vladimir Putin. Interest in the Olympiad continues to grow each year.
In 2023, the President of Russia personally met with the finalists of the III Olympiad, following which the International Movement on Financial Security was established, bringing together representatives from 36 countries.
"Over four years, more than 1,900 participants have reached the Olympiad’s final stage, including 514 winners and prize-winners. President Vladimir Putin has decided that the final stage of the Olympiad would be hosted in different regions of the country. In 2025, Krasnoyarsk has been designated as the host city. This is a milestone year for the Olympiad, and over time, it has developed its own set of events and traditions. I believe they should continue to expand. With each new host city contributing fresh ideas and proposals," noted Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Dmitry Chernyshenko and Yury Chikhanchin, Director of the Rosfinmonitoring, expressed their gratitude to the Talent and Success Educational Foundation and its Head, Elena Shmeleva, as well as to the Sirius federal territory, the administration of Krasnodar Region and Sochi, and the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative Office in the Southern Federal District for their support in organizing the first four Olympiads.
Yury Chikhanchin stressed the importance of expanding the Olympiad’s geographical reach and increasing international participation in the Financial Security thematic lesson, which in 2025 will focus on money muling (a fraudulent scheme used to cash out illicit funds).
"Interest from foreign countries in our Olympiad continues to grow. The final stage of the IV Olympiad included school and university students from 36 countries, including members of the CIS, BRICS, SCO, and other international organizations. This year, additional countries are preparing to participate fully in the competition," said Yury Chikhanchin.
Following the meeting, Dmitry Chernyshenko endorsed this initiative and instructed the relevant authorities to explore ways to increase international representation.
In 2025, the Olympiad will be held at Siberian Federal University in Krasnoyarsk. As in previous years, expert discussions will be held on the sidelines of the Final Stage.
Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Mikhail Kotyukov, emphasized that it is a great honor for the region to host the final stage of the International Olympiad on Financial Security. He also expressed his gratitude to the President of Russia for supporting the initiative to hold the competition in the region. Mikhail Kotyukov emphasized that the region has extensive experience in hosting major federal and international events, including the 29th Winter Universiade in 2019. He noted that Krasnoyarsk possesses all the necessary infrastructure to ensure a high-level organization of the main part of the Final Stage of the Olympiad, as well as its accompanying sports and cultural programs.
The Invitational Stage of the V Olympiad is taking place from February 1 through February 28, on the Sodruzhestvo platform in both Russian and English. Open primarily to students in grades 8–11 and university students. Participants who complete the tasks will receive certificates. The Lesson on Financial Security will take place from February 1 through April 30, 2025. The Invitational Stage of the Olympiad will be held from February 1 through February 28, 2025. The Elemenatory Stage will consist of two rounds: the first round will be held from March 31 through April 4, 2025, and the second round will take place from April 9 through April 15, 2025. The Qualifiying Stage will be held from August 1 through September 3, 2025. The Fnal Sage will be held in person from September 28 through October 3, 2025.
