Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko chaired a meeting of the organizing committee in charge of the preparation and holding of the IV International Olympiad on Financial Security 2024.
Among those attending the meeting were: Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service Yury Chikhanchin, Head of Talent and Success Foundation Elena Shmeleva, the representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Office, country’s leading universities and scientific organizations, as well as the administration of the Krasnodar Territory and Promsvyazbank PJSC.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Olympiad initiative, which started in 2021, unites more than 6 million people today. According to the last year results, the project expanded to cover 19 countries, including non-CIS ones.
‘Over the last three years, more than 1,300 people have become participants of the Olympiad finals, and almost 350 have become Olympiad winners. The winners of the phygital football tournament, which took place within the Olympiad finals last year, will participate in the Games of the Future multi-sport tournament to be held in the city of Kazan. All of them are invited to the ceremony on February 21. They represent Algeria, Cuba, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Some of them will also take part in the World Youth Festival, which will be held in the Sirius Federal Territory from February 29 to March 7. The final stage of the IV International Olympiad on Financial Security will traditionally take place in the Sirius Federal Territory in the city of Sochi from September 30 to October 4, 2024. To date, about 30 countries have confirmed their participation,’ said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
He also mentioned that the International Olympiad on Financial Security is on the list of first-grade Olympiads for schoolchildren for the 2023/2024 academic year, which gives the winners and awardees a special privilege when applying to universities. The Olympiad invitation stage, where you can practice solving Olympiad tasks to prepare for the qualifying stage, starts on March 4, 2024.
‘One of the main tasks this year is to increase the number of participants involved in the Olympiad initiative. Thematic lessons on financial security will start in the coming days; we will further expand their geographic scope thanks to the assistance provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Rossotrudnichestvo. The main feature of our IV International Olympiad on Financial Security is that we plan to hold all its stages on the Sodruzhestvo platform. This platform was presented to the President of the Russian Federation on the margins of the Olympiad finals last year. According to some preliminary estimates, in 2024, the number of countries joining the Olympiad may total at least 30-35 due to more participants coming from BRICS member states, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia,’ said Yury Chikhanchin.
Moreover, there will be more national Olympiads: Russian-Tajik Slavonic University (RTSU) will host the national Olympiad in the Republic of Tajikistan for the second time, and Kyrgyzstan will hold its first national Olympiad.
This is going to be the fourth International Olympiad on Financial Security. In 2021, it brought together school and university students from seven countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan), while in 2022 a total of 12 countries took part in the event (Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and South Africa). In 2023, 19 countries participated in the Olympiad (Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, China, Cuba, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Vietnam).
