A session of the organizational committee for the IV International Olympiad on Financial Security, chaired by Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Russia, was held to finalize preparations for the event. Yury Chikhanchin, Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, also took part in it.
A program of the final stage of the IV Olympiad, which is going to take place from September 30 to October 4 in the Sirius federal territory, was approved. The jury panel and board of appeal were also confirmed.
In his opening address, Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the expanded international participation in the International Olympiad on Financial Security. The hospitable Sirius federal territory expects over 550 finalists from 36 countries at the finals this year.
“Despite the current international situation, we managed to not only retain but also extend the scale and quality of the Olympiad's organization. This year, over 550 young participants from 36 countries will come to Sirius, compared to 19 countries last year. Importantly, these participants will not only compete but will also get opportunities for enrollment in the country’s leading educational institutions and enhanced career prospects,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
He also noted that the inaugural conference of the International Financial Security Movement, bringing together representatives from 36 countries, took place on September 17 at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Yury Chikhanchin, Director of Rosfinmonitoring, emphasized that the Sirius platforms would host schoolchildren, students, and representatives from financial intelligence units, business community, and the academic and educational sectors. The final stage of the Olympiad includes over 40 educational activities for schoolchildren and students, including meetings with potential employers and vocational guidance events.
“Activities of the final week of the Olympiad are designed to foster educational achievement and professional development of the participants, create an environment rooted in cultural and moral values, as well as promote active engagement of participants in the sports movement. Within the scope of the educational trend, schoolchildren and students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and obtain new competencies in masterclasses, panel discussions, and interactive workshops,” the Director of Rosfinmonitoring said.
Dmitry Afanasiev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, shared further details about the Olympiad’s final stage and reported the results of qualifying stages of the IV Olympiad, having noted that the number of final participants increased in 2024.
The final stage of the IV Olympiad will include sessions of the Council of the International Network AML/CFT Institute, the Sirius 2024 International Forum on Financial Security, Talks as Equals, a phygital basketball tournament, masterclasses, panel discussions, and various cultural, educational, and sports events.
Also participating in the session were Olga Koludarova, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Orlov, State Secretary and Deputy Head of the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), Elena Shmelyova, Head of the Talent and Success Educational Foundation, Igor Galas, First Deputy Governor of Krasnodar Region, Sofia Malyavina, Director General of the National Priorities Autonomous Nonprofit Organization, Ivan Uvarov, Director General of the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring (ITMCFM), Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Director of the International Network AML/CFT Institute, representatives of the Executive Office of the Government of the Russian Federation, Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, Bank of Russia, Promsvyazbank PJSC, and institutions within the International Network AML/CFT Institute.
