The scientific and practical conference hosted by Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and co-organized by ITMCFM started its work. The event dedicated to the 105th anniversary of Financial University features a plenary session, a round table, nine thematic sections and a youth section organized as a best research project contest.
At the Plenary opening ceremony, First Deputy Director General of ITMCFM, Director of the INI Mr. Vladimir Ovchinnikov, noted the importance of international platforms for discussing financial security issues. The Sodruzhestvo International Social and Educational Platform bringing together young people and the expert community is one of them. Mr. Vladimir Ovchinnikov invited all participants in the conference to join the financial security Olympiad movement and become active developers of educational content for the Sodruzhestvo:
“The platform will be used to train, support and develop the talented youth, to shape an educational and professional trajectory, and as a potential staff pool for the financial security industry.
We believe that this digital resource will be the cornerstone for building a unified educational space in the field of AML/CFT and financial security in partner countries of the Russian Federation in the international anti-money laundering system. That’s why it’s important to teach every instructor and every student to use this platform.”
Those attending the thematic sections discussed issues and proposed solutions to ensure financial sovereignty and increase the competitiveness of the Russian financial market in the context of the digital transformation of the financial system.
The section on new national and supranational ML/TF vulnerabilities and risks in the context of digitalization of financial markets was moderated by Mr. Oleg Ivanov, first deputy director general of ITMCFM and Mr. Vladislav Ponamorenko, professor of the Department of Financial Markets and Financial Engineering of the Faculty of Finance. The speakers of the section representing Russia’s academia and experts from public and private organizations discussed topics like the shadow economy in modern conditions, the imbalance of financial stability and economic growth, improving the investment strategy of the National Welfare Fund, the risk-free interest rate, etc.
