Education and Career in AML/CFT Exhibition in Rio de Janeiro

From April 29th to May 1st, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro hosted the INI’s international exhibition Education and Career in AML/CFT, organized by ITMCFM.

The Exhibition included a Lesson on Financial Security along with various interactive activities and workshops:

  • Financially Lucky Quiz;
  • Team tournament in financial crime investigation using the Graphus training system;
  • Introduction to the practical capacity of the Transparent Blockchain digital product.

Workshops conducted by ITMCFM experts enabled students to analyze financial flows, exposing connections and money laundering schemes. This not only allowed them to apply their theoretical knowledge but also improve their analytical skills. During the Lesson on Financial Security, students learnt about safeguarding themselves against scams when utilizing contemporary communication methods, thus preventing unintentional involvement in financial crimes.

Representatives of ITMCFM and the Intercontest Training Centre for School and Tertiary Students informed students of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro about the International Movement on Financial Security and its primary driving force - the International Olympiad on Financial Security, which brings together millions of talented young individuals from over 30 countries. Attendees received the opportunity to register on the Sodruzhestvo platform, a unique resource connecting international financial security experts and practitioners, school qnd university students, serving as the main platform for the Olympiad 2024.

 

As part of the educational exhibition’s events, representatives of ITMCFM and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro convened working sessions with the Russian Consulate in Rio de Janeiro and Brazilian government officials engaged in the national AML/CFT system. Discussions were focused on further collaboration, training, and knowledge sharing via the ITMCFM platform.

Following the exhibition, the representatives from ITMCFM and the Intercontest Training Centre for School and Tertiary Students met with the representatives of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro headed by the Rector Roberto de Andrade Medronho. Alexander Korolev, Consul of the Russian Federation in Rio de Janeiro, also took part in the meeting.

Irina Shilina, Deputy Director General of ITMCFM, and Roberto Medronho, Rector of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the University and the Centre. The University affirmed its commitment to joining the International Network AML/CFT Institute. Both parties underscored the importance of consolidating intellectual assets in the training, retraining, and professional development training in the area of AML/CFT and financial security, expressing their desire to sustain productive collaboration.

 

On the eve of Victory Day, the Rector, in his address, underscored the significance of commemorating the pivotal role of the Soviet people in defeating fascism and Nazism:

Today, universities in Russia and Brazil are prepared to face new challenges and threats to financial security by combining the educational, scientific, and practical capabilities of their respective nations. The initiatives undertaken by young people play a significant role in this endeavor.

The Rector noted that Brazilian students would participate in the International Olympiad on Financial Security for the third time.
