On April 12 - 13, 2023, the "Education and Career in AML/CFT" Exhibition of the International Network AML/CFT Institute was held at the Karaganda University "Kazpotrebsoyuz".
It was organized by the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring with the support of the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On the first day of the exhibition, round table meetings were organized for representatives of the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Rossotrudnichestvo in Kazakhstan, the INI member universities from Russia and Kazakhstan, and the ITMCFM.
The participants discussed:
- Rossotrudnichestvo's projects in Astana to promote Russian science in universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- experience and perspectives to implement professional higher AML/CFT education programs at the INI universities;
- exchange of experience between the INI universities from the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation;
- a thematic lesson on financial security for pupils of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- implementation of the "Graphus" training system into educational process;
- development of the INI AML/CFT activities, including Personal Accounts of universities on the INI website.
On the second day of the exhibition, an eventful and exciting program was prepared for pupils and students, including informative lectures, workshops and information stands of the INI universities to familiarize children with the prospects of AML/CFT training programs.
At the opening of the exhibition, the guests were welcomed by the Head of the Department of Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakstan, G. Lesbekov, Deputy Head of the ITMCFM Department, M. Shemyakina, and Rector of Karaganda University "Kazpotrebsoyuz", E. Aymagambetov.
The children had the opportunity to choose the program activities that were the most interesting for them:
- lectures on the financial intelligence role in today's world, the career prospects for graduates in this field, and the ways organized crime penetrates business and government;
- masterclasses to better understand the system of public authority in Russia and AML/CFT risk-based approach;
- team competitions in conducting financial investigations via "Graphus" training system organized by the ITMCFM experts.
Special attention was paid to a new cycle of the International Financial Security Olympiad. The children watched a video about the Olympiad’s final stage, and the 2021 prize-winner from the Republic of Kazakhstan told about Olympiad impressions and its final stage in “Sirius”.
The INI member universities from Russia and Kazakhstan also had an exhibition area open throughout the day, where prospective students could find out about courses and programs and ask questions to university representatives.
