On June 14-15, 2024, Rossotrudnichestvo in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (Addis Ababa) hosted the Education and Career in AML/CFT international exhibition.
More than 150 participants attended the Exhibition. Among the participants were school students, university students, teachers and experts in the field of cybersecurity.
Opening the event, the head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Addis Ababa, Alexander Evstigneev, welcomed the attendees. ITMCFM Deputy Director General Irina Shilina presented joint projects of the International Network AML/CFT Institute, the International Movement on Financial Security and its main driving force - the International Olympiad on Financial Security, which brings together millions of young and talented people from more than 35 countries.
This year, a team of Ethiopian university students will participate in the Olympiad for the first time.
Addis Ababa University became interested in the opportunities provided by INI.
ITMCFM experts prepared a rich program for the Exhibition participants:
- Lesson on financial security “No Child's Games. How to avoid involvement in financial crimes”. During the Lesson, participants familiarized themselves with the various scenarios of fraudulent activities, learnt about phishing and how to protect themselves from fraudulent schemes, including terrorism financing assistance.
- Various interactive events and master classes:
- Financially Lucky quiz
- Team tournament on financial crimes investigation using the Graphus training system
- Introduction to the practical opportunities of the Transparent Blockchain digital product
Participants were told how to register on the Sodruzhestvo platform, a unique resource that brought together international experts and practitioners in the field of financial security, students and schoolchildren. In 2024, Sodruzhestvo became the main Olympiad platform.
Participation in master classes conducted by ITMCFM experts gave the children a unique opportunity to independently analyze financial flows, identifying hidden money laundering links and mechanisms. Besides, young people became interested in obtaining education in the areas of financial security and AML/CFT at Russian INI universities.
In order to promote Russian education in financial security and AML/CFT, the Ethiopian universities were provided with the following training manuals and teaching aids through the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo:
- a brochure on education at universities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation
- an ITMCFM textbook on the International AML/CFT/CPF system, and
- Financial Security journal
