Final Round of the III International Financial Security Olympiad Began At Sirius

Today, the Sirius Federal Territory welcomed nearly 500 schoolchildren and students from 19 countries on the margins of the III International Financial Security Olympiad finals.

The opening ceremony was attended by Director of Rosfinmonitoring Mr. Yury Chikhanchin, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mr. Dmitry Afanasyev, representatives of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, heads of foreign financial intelligence units, as well as representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism , universities of the International Network AML/CFT Institute, and the International Training and Methodology Center for Financial Monitoring (ITMCFM).

Welcoming the guests, Mr. Yury Chikhanchin noted that the Olympiad platform united employers and prospective employees, as well as like-minded individuals who have proven themselves worthy of winning.

 “It is imperative to engage young people in addressing international financial security issues. The more nations participate, the more effective our outcomes will be. Year by year, more countries join the International Financial Security Olympiad, which now unites four continents and over 6 million individuals,” said the Service’s Director.

Words of encouragement by the esteemed guests and spectacular performances by creative teams culminated the ceremony.

Throughout the final week, financial security experts from various countries, along with representatives from public authorities, banking industry, business community, and international organizations will communicate with schoolchildren and students.

The Olympiad final stage agenda includes approximately 60 activities, including interactive workshops, panel discussions, master classes, economic cases competitions, meetings with esteemed guests, phygital football tournament, and cultural events.

"Participation in Olympiad events provides an opportunity for everyone to showcase their abilities and enhance financial security knowledge, encompassing informational and legal aspects. The Olympiad winners and prize-winners will be granted preferential treatment during university admissions," emphasized Deputy Minister Dmitry Afanasiev.

The International Financial Security Olympiad has been held annually since 2021, following the instructions of President of Russia Vladimir Putin. This year’s participating countries include Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Brazil, China, Cuba, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, Pakistan, Russia, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan,  Venezuela, Vietnam. Over the course of three years, the Olympiad has seen its membership geography nearly triple in size.
