On October 3, the finalists of the IV International Olympiad on Financial Security once again took part in the Cup of Four Continents tournament hosted at the Sirius federal territory's Sport Park with the support of the Russian Basketball Federation.
The tournament, first introduced during the III International Olympiad on Financial Security in 2023 as a phygital football competition, expanded to include basketball in 2024. Teams from 15 countries participated in the phygital football competition. This year, the finalists first competed using a basketball game simulator before transitioning to the actual court.
Ten teams from 18 countries – Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brazil, Cuba, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa (RSA), Venezuela, Vietnam.– competed in the phygital basketball tournament.
The teams were comprised of both male and female participants, with 8 male teams and 2 female teams formed through a draw.
In his opening remarks, Yury Chikhanchin, Director of Rosfinmonitoring, encouraged the players, wishing them energy and success. The female teams played an exhibition match, with Team Dolphins, composed of players from India and South Africa, emerging victorious.
After a fiercely competitive tournament, Team Wolves, comprising players from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Russia, secured first place, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and a strong will to win in both the digital and physical arenas. Team Lions (Cuba, Iran, and Venezuela) took second place, while Team Tigers (Brazil, Ethiopia, and Saudi Arabia) claimed third.
