The workshop "The Role of Anti-Terrorist Financing Mechanisms in Building Regional Security within Shanghai Cooperation Organization" for representatives of delegations of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization ended on April 12.
The following issues were discussed on the last day of the workshop:
- identification and proof of terrorist financing offences;
- fight against the use of information and communication technologies for terrorist financing;
- international cooperation in combating terrorist financing.
Representatives of the SCO member states, the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS Executive Committee, the EAG Secretariat, Rosfinmonitoring and ITMCFM participated in the meetings.
The results of the two-day workshop were summarized and the following future activities were identified:
- to make joint efforts to develop fight against terrorist financing within the SCO, including discussion of these issues in the Organization s working bodies and practical initiatives to improve the legal cooperation framework in this area;
- to participate in a dialogue on countering terrorist financing within the SCO and pay particular attention to the new TF challenges, threats and risks within the SCO;
to take joint measures, create specialized shared information resources, exchange information and hold thematic trainings to improve counter-terrorist effectiveness within the Organization.
