From June 27 to July 4, 2022, a five-day workshop organized by the ITMCFM for representatives of law enforcement agencies and financial intelligence units of the Syrian Arab Republic was held on the topic “Increasing the potential of the national AML/CFT system”. The event was held in a videoconference format using simultaneous translation of lectures into Arabic.
International experts, representatives of Rosfinmonitoring and ITMCFM delivered lectures focusing on the main aspects of the AML/CFT system: supervisory activities, conducting financial investigations, organizing interagency and international interaction, as well as cybercrime and tracing transactions in the field of cryptocurrencies.
At the end of the course, a round table was held, during which Syrian colleagues shared their experience in building a stable AML/CFT system in the region. The participants highly appreciated the level of organization of the workshop, and also expressed interest in further participation in training events in the field of AML/CFT.
