On August 23-25, 2022, a face-to-face seminar for financial institutions on the application of a risk-based approach in the AML/CFT sphere regarding virtual assets was held in the village of Sary-O of Issyk-Kul region (Kyrgyz Republic). The event was organized by the ITMCFM jointly with the Training and Methodology Center of the State Financial Intelligence Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic and the State Financial Intelligence Service under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic.
For three days, expert lecturers – specialist of the ITMCFM, head of the “Transparent Blockchain” project A. Yurov and Ph.D. in Economics, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Managing Director of Gazprombank and banking expert M. Karataev shared with representatives of banks, payment organizations and mobile operators of Kyrgyzstan practical features and principles of interaction with the cryptocurrency market from the point of view of AML/CFT, and also contributed to the formation of a set of knowledge and skills necessary for developing in financial organizations of the private sector of an effective risk assessment model and practical application of a risk-based approach in AML/CFT sphere.
The workshop was held as part of the implementation of the project plan for the provision of technical assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic.
