Officers of the Regional Branch of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service for the Siberian Federal District and the Prosecutor's Office of Novosibirsk identified cryptocurrency fraud.
It was established that in 2020 a married couple created a consumer cooperative. It involved citizens under the pretext of paying high interest on allegedly profitable investment in cryptocurrency, which actually did not exist.
The victims, including six local residents, joined the cooperative, investing their funds and property. The amount of damage caused exceeded 3 million rubles.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Fraud). The perpetrators were detained.
