On April 25, the international roundtable on current practices and challenges in scientific and educational development of financial security was held in Nizhny Novgorod.
This international event brought together more than 100 participants from 15 countries: Algeria, Belarus, Brazil, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Guinea, India, Kenya, Russia, Senegal, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, and Uzbekistan.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Ivan Kornev, Deputy Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, Igor Panshin, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District, Pyotr Bannikov, Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, and Oleg Trofimov, Rector of Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod.
In his address, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, First Deputy Director General of the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring (ITMCFM) and Director of the International Network AML/CFT Institute (INI), spoke about the International Movement on Financial Security, its mission and strategic objectives, as well as the Roadmap for the Movement’s development in 2025.
Key activities planned for the current year include:
- Expanding the Movement by engaging school and university students and expert communities from Russia and abroad;
- Developing the Center for Spiritual and Moral Environment within the Movement;
- Supporting the organization of the International Olympiad on Financial Security;
- Delivering training and educational events;
- Advancing the Movement’s visual identity and branding;
- Promoting the Sodruzhestvo platform.
The roundtable brought together speakers from the expert and academic communities, government agencies, and the banking sector.
As part of the event, the FinBez Lab, an innovative research unit under the Scientific and Educational Center for Financial Monitoring at Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, was officially inaugurated.
According to Vladislav Generalov, Head of the Centre and a staff member of Interregional Department of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service in Volga Federal District, the new research unit will serve as a digital hub for scientific and educational initiatives in financial security, contributing to the further development of the International Movement on Financial Security.
