Mr. Oleg Ivanov, First Deputy Director General, ITMCFM, spoke at the Legal Education and Science in Law Enforcement: Modern Trends and Prospects international research-to-practice conference in Tashkent. The event was dedicated to the first anniversary of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In his speech on the promising trends in the development of AML/CFT education, Mr. Ivanov mentioned:
- International Financial Security Olympiad held this year for the 3rd time and uniting over 6 million participants from 19 countries;
- Importance of consistent and targeted training of school students in the field of financial security. This can be achieved both by providing lessons on financial security as part of various classes and by introducing an elective course or a new Financial Security subject in schools;
- Directions of further development of professional standards for AML/CFT higher education, specific academic results, and required practical skills.
Also, Mr. Ivanov noted the digital resource designed as a common educational space for financial security and AML/CFT—the Sodruzhestvo platform. One of the goals of the platform is sharing expertise with younger professionals and providing a communication ground for international parties of the financial security.
“To effectively combat money laundering and financing of terrorism in the modern environment, it is important to ensure professionalism, competence, and high skills of staff who are able to promptly respond to new global challenges and threats and effectively manage emerging risks,” said the speaker.
