As part of a working trip to the federal territory of “Sirius”, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko summed up the results of the II International Financial Security Olympiad. It is held annually under the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The Deputy Prime Minister met with foreign participants of the competitions, and also chaired a final meeting of the organizing committee, where the results and prospects for the development of the youth movement within the framework of the Financial Security Olympiad were discussed.
During a meeting with students from India, Brazil, South Africa, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Dmitry Chernyshenko answered the questions of the finalists. Students from South Africa were interested, for example, in the possibilities of receiving education in Russia and further employment, Brazilians - in the development of Russian language learning centers in their country, and students from Armenia – in the participation of pupils from CIS countries in the Olympiad.
"I have been to all the participating countries of the Olympiad many times. I am sure that you will also enjoy being here, and you will come again and tell your friends what modern Russia is — technological, smart and open. The initiative of participation of foreign schoolchildren is extremely relevant and is being worked out by the organizers and industrial partners of the Olympiad," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
In addition, Dmitry Chernyshenko invited the participants to join the new international phygital movement. And he offered to come to the world s first "Games of the Future", which combine classical sports disciplines and eSports. The games will be held in Kazan in 2024.
"Today we talked with colleagues from different countries, they showed great interest in expanding the Olympiad program. They promised to be our ambassadors and promote the international movement on financial security in their countries. We also agreed that they will hold Olympiad events among pupils in their countries so that next year they can also take part in this very important activity to achieve international financial security," Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
The Deputy Prime Minister also chaired a final meeting of the organizing committee. It was attended by Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service Yuri Chikhanchin, Chairman of the Federal Territory Council, Head of the “Sirius” Educational Center Elena Shmeleva, Rector of the Peoples Friendship University of Russia Oleg Yastrebov and Rector of the Siberian Federal University Maxim Rumyantsev.
Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that despite the current international situation, it was possible not only to maintain, but also to expand the level of organization and holding of the Olympiad. If last year more than 31 thousand pupils and students from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were registered to participate in it, then this year – already more than 40 thousand participants from 12 countries. Pupils and students from Armenia, India, China, South Africa and Brazil joined the competition.
"Financial security and cyber resilience are the basis of any country s sovereignty. You know how vulnerable the financial and cyber system is if they are not protected. I am grateful for hosting the 2nd International Financial Security Olympiad. We see that the number of participants has increased by 30%, including international coverage. This year, 26 pupils and 72 students from all 12 participating countries became winners and prize-winners. 80 representatives of Russia are among the best. I hope that in the future they will link their professional activities with the fight against cybercrime, fraud and financial pyramids at the international level. They not only became winners, but also received privileges for admission to the country s leading universities and employment prospects. The government will continue to create conditions by increasing the informational, financial and legal literacy of young people," Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
"In general, the tasks of the Olympiad can be considered fulfilled. We are very glad that the Olympiad movement is developing so actively not only in Russia, but also at the international level. In particular, in our country, the number of schoolchildren who took part in a lesson on financial security has grown to 2.1 million pupils from more than 26 thousand schools. About 40 thousand applications from schoolchildren and students were submitted to the qualifying round. And in the final week, more than 50 panel discussions, master classes and role-playing games were held for the participants. More than 300 children took part in sightseeing tours, sports competitions in mini-football, streetball, tug of war, physical fitness competitions. Every evening there were eSports competitions. The program turned out to be really colorful and intense, I m sure, young people got unforgettable impressions," Yuri Chikhanchin added.
