From June 07-09, 2023, a series of events under Russia s chairmanship in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) took place at the Sirius federal territory. These events included the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting, the III Eurasian Congress, the II Youth Forum of CIS and EAEU, the Eurasia is our home International exhibition, and the meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS member states.
"The governments of our states face significant and complex objectives in promoting integrated development across the economic, social, and humanitarian spheres. First and foremost, we are focused on expanding trade relations and increasing the involvement of our economies and business entities in the Eurasian production, transport, and logistics chains. We also aim to implement relevant investment and infrastructure projects," stated Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, during the meeting with the heads of government of CIS and EAEU.
"The program of Russia s chairmanship in the EAEU encompasses activities in various areas of cooperation. The solutions devised will enable the integration cooperation of our countries to a significantly new level, expanding the geographic scope of EAEU s foreign trade relations and defining the strategic development in the upcoming decades. The significant participation of states in the Sirius event shows the growing interest in the EAEU agenda and the promising prospects for this cooperation format," emphasized Anton Kobyakov, the Counselor to the President of the Russian Federation.
Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Meeting:
The council meeting took place in both restricted and expanded formats. CIS and EAEU heads of governments discussed cooperation and integration engagements, digitalization, and the functioning of the EAEU internal market. They also addressed the implementation of the rail freight digitalization plan, fulfillment of the Agreement on Using Electronic Navigation Seals, and establishment of the Eurasian Rating Agency. Following the meeting, 14 documents were signed, including an Agreement on mutual recognition of academic degrees among the member states of the "five".
III Eurasian Congress
The Congress key event became the plenary session "Eurasia of the Future: from Challenges to Solutions." During the meeting, the government heads of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan discussed the further development of both the EAEU and the entire Eurasian region.
Topics covered included infrastructure development and the establishment of new transport routs, experience sharing in various fields, creation of advanced cross-country industrial projects, as well as digital transformation and the introduction of new technologies within the framework of the business program.
Additionally, participants presented the Eurasian Development Bank s analytical report "Cross-Border Public-Private Partnerships" and a new tourist project "Creation of the Novaya Anapa All-Russian Family Beach Resort". The Eurasian Development Bank is the organizer of the Congress.
The II Youth Forum of CIS and EAEU
The program featured 15 business activities, including a plenary session, strategic sessions, master classes, a business breakfast, trainings, a business game, and presentations. The key event was a business breakfast attended by Deputy Chairmen of the CIS and EAEU Governments. During the event, young people presented a number of initiatives aimed at developing youth entrepreneurship and promoting foreign economic activity between countries.
Around 150 young participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan took part in the event. The forum also welcomed young and new entrepreneurs seeking business partners, young public officials from CIS and EAEU countries, students, as well as representatives from the governments of CIS and EAEU, and heads of educational institutions and other specialized organizations. The Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) is the organizer of the forum.
Eurasia is Our Home International Exhibition
The exhibition demonstrated integration projects from Armenia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan. The exposition was presented in the format of industry clusters. They were divided into main thematic areas, including industry, finance, digitalization and digital development, healthcare, tourism, sports, science, and education.
Participation included over 200 companies, with about half of them representing partner countries of Russia. The exhibition was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.
Meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS Member States
During the meetings in restricted and expanded formats, heads of delegations exchanged views on relevant issues of economic cooperation within the CIS. As a result, agreements were reached on free trade in services, establishment, action, and implementation of investments, as well as an agreement On the concept of development of industrial cooperation among CIS member states and set of measures for such development up to 2030.
Based on the outcomes, approximately 1,500 participants and media representatives from Russia and 12 countries visited the exhibition areas. The venue was attended by heads of international organizations and associations, as well as high-ranking officials from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
