On November 28-29, India is hosting the 41st EAG Plenary meeting chaired by the Director of Rosfinmonitoring Yury Chikhanchin. Among the participants are delegates from the Eurasian Group countries, observer states and international organizations, as well as invited guests.
Ivan Uvarov, ITMCFM Director General, presented the Center’s main projects. In his speech, it was emphasized that preparing for the new 3rd round of mutual evaluations is an absolute technical assistance priority:
“ITMCFM’s technical assistance provision to EAG member states focuses on improving technical compliance and effectiveness of national AML/CFT systems, both in terms of implementing technical assistance project plans and staff capacity building”
The ITMCFM Director General noted the following mechanisms for increasing the effectiveness of national AML/CFT systems used by the Center:
- translation of FATF methodology papers;
- organization of assessors trainings on updated standards;
- bilateral events for FIU officers and relevant agencies of Russia’s partner states;
- multilateral workshops that allow participants to exchange country experience and best practices during the learning process.
Ivan Uvarov also emphasized the need to maintain a high level of AML/CFT staff qualification. ITMCFM activities aimed to build personnel capacity and implemented within coordination of the International Network AML/CFT Institute’s participants meet this goal.
