During the meeting of the Working Group on Technical Assistance, ITMCFM presented information on technical assistance projects.
The 41st EAG Plenary week in India was opened by the meetings of Working Groups.
At the Working Group on Technical Assistance (WGTA), Deputy Head of ITMCFM Project Implementation Department Konstantin Sorokin spoke about the main technical assistance projects implemented by the Center for the EAG member states.
The speaker noted that technical assistance is based on analyzing the countries’ needs and listed the following main mechanisms aimed to increase the effectiveness of national AML/CFT systems:
- elaborating methodologies and guidelines;
- holding face-to-face training events;
- organizing training events via videoconferencing;
- developing AML/CFT electronic services and providing access to them.
The speech also highlighted the importance of staff capacity building for national anti-money laundering systems. It is implemented through involvement of young people in the International Movement on Financial Security.
The main event in this area is the International Olympiad on Financial Security, which this year brought together participants from 36 countries.
In addition, national Olympiads, held for school and university students in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, play a major role in supporting the International Movement on Financial Security.
