On May 31, 2022, during the 36th EAG Plenary Week, meetings of the Working Group on Mutual Evaluations and Legal Issues (WGEL) and the Working Group on Technical Assistance (WGTA) were held.
Within the framework of the open meeting of the Working Group on Mutual Evaluations and Legal Issues (WGEL), the 3rd follow-up report of the Republic of Tajikistan without technical compliance re-rating, as well as the Schedule for the 2nd round of mutual evaluations in the EAG member states were presented. At the open meeting of the Working Group on Technical Assistance (WGTA), the group participants reviewed reports on coordination of providing technical assistance to the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, the work plan of the International Compliance Council and a progress report on implementation of the project to improve the mechanisms of a risk-based approach in supervisory activities in the EAG member states.
At the meeting of the Working Group on Technical Assistance (WGTA), the Head of the Project Implementation Department of the ITMCFM, Yu. Marchenko, and the Project Coordinator of the Project Implementation Department of the ITMCFM, K. Sorokin, delivered a report on priority technical assistance projects implemented by the ITMCFM for the states of the Eurasian region.
During the speech, the meeting participants noted the effectiveness of the presented technical assistance projects of the ITMCFM. The participants were particularly interested in the AML/CFT electronic services, country training manuals "Peculiarities of National AML/CFT Systems of the Eurasian Region States" and other AML/CFT thematic publications of the ITMCFM, which, along with the basic training manual "International AML/CFT/CPF System", are recommended to be used in the educational process of the INI member universities. The EAG member states and other stakeholders are recommended to consider the possibility of interaction with the ITMCFM in the area of AML/CFT electronic services. The representatives of the ITMCFM also focused on the need to comply with the deadlines for the activities of the project plans on technical assistance provision as one of the key conditions for achieving the stated results.
