23rd Meeting of CIS CH FIUs

The 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs) of the CIS Member States gathered in Almaty FIUs heads from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, along with representatives from India, Iran, the CIS Executive Committee, industry cooperation bodies, the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring, and the government of the Russian Federation.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Yury Chikhanchin, Chairman of CH FIUs and Director of Rosfinmonitoring, noted the necessity of further international efforts to combat cross-border crimes. The Council meeting, according to him, marked another stride towards strengthening cooperation in countering financial stability and global security challenges of the region.

The participants discussed the operational situations in CIS member states, recent legislative ML/TF advancements and information sharing among financial intelligence units, development of Sodruzhestvo international scientific and educational digital platform, and the launch of the International Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Risk Assessment Center.

The speakers acknowledged the effectiveness of joint terrorism and drug-related Barrier and Channel operations.

The III International Financial Security Olympiad was of special notice.
