The 20th meeting of the Council of the International Network AML/CFT Institute (INI) was held on April 19, 2024 in Moscow, chaired by Yury Chikhanchin, Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
The event was attended by representatives of the Russian FIU, Promsvyazbank PJSC, and universities. Experts from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan discussed the development of international AML/CFT staff trainings, the 4th International Olympiad on Financial Security, tutorials, and other educational initiatives.
In his welcoming address, Yury Chikhanchin noted that the 2024 selective rounds of the Olympiad will be the first to be organized using the Sodruzhestvo International Platform, with the platform exceeding over 170 thousand users.
“The final round will be held at Sirius Federal Territory from September 30 to October 4, 2024. This year, the number of participants will increase: about 600 schoolchildren and students are expected to attend the event. At present, more than 20 thousand young people from 54 countries are taking the qualifying test,” said Mr. Chikhanchin.
Mr. Chikhanchin emphasized that the Olympiad has become the main platform for the International Movement on Financial Security, proposing the ranking of INI universities based on their contributions to the Movement. Assessment criteria could include student and schoolchildren coverage, the number of award and prize winners trained by the university, involvement in developing content for the Sodruzhestvo platform, etc.
Vladimir Ovchinnikov, ITMCFM First Deputy Director General, INI Director provided updates on the organization of the Olympiad 2024 selective round and the International Network AML/CFT Institute’s activities for this year.
For successful organization and hosting of the 3rd International Olympiad on Financial Security the Director of Federal Financial Monitoring Service awarded Mr. Ovchinnikov a Certificate of Honor of the Government of the Russian Federation.
Margarita Andronova, ITMCFM Director General, and representatives of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Lebedev Physical Institute of RAS, Intercontest Training Centre for School and Tertiary Students, Siberian Federal University, and RUDN University were also recognized with distinguished awards.
At the end of the meeting, the attendees unanimously approved the inclusion of two new members in the International Network AML/CFT Institute: Nizhny Novgorod Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
