On April 7, 2023 the 18th Meeting of the International Network AML/CFT Institute’s Council took place. The event, organized by the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring, was held at the Lebedev Physical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The Council brought together over 100 participants: representatives of the INI's member organizations and invited guests. The Director of Rosfinmonitoring, Yury Chikhanchin, Deputy Head of the Presidential Civil Service and Personnel Directorate, Andrey Lavrenko, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mikhail Kotyukov, as well as representatives of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Russian Ministry of Education took part in the event.
Yury Chikhanchin, Chairman of the INI Council and Director of Rosfinmonitoring, delivered his welcome speech:
"On the eve of our Network Institute's tenth anniversary, we can confidently state that the idea to establish our consortium was sound, and it has confirmed its sustainability, importance, and relevance. We believe there is a need to broaden the geographical scope of our partners and strengthen cooperation in terms of developing methodologies, training materials, and sharing best practices."
The Council discussed the following topics:
- development of the International Financial Security Olympiad movement;
- National Financial Security Olympiads in the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan;
- special rights of the International Financial Security Olympiad winners and prize-winners;
- content development for the international scientific and educational digital platform "Sodruzhestvo";
- training of pupils and students during inter-Olympic period.
Speaking about the ITMCFM coordinating role in organization of the International Financial Security Olympiad, ITMCFM Director General, Margarita Andronova, underlined:
“We believe that interaction between teachers and students, as well as their participation in interesting, non-standard activities, can help to build communication and dialogue between young people's value systems and AML entities”.
The launch of the "Vse v kurse" (Everyone’s aware) competition to create educational content for the "Sodruzhestvo" platform was officially announced at the end of the event. Further details will be published on the ITMCFM website.
