Workshop for financial intelligence units of the EAG member states on the implementation of the FATF Recommendation 33 (Statistics)

On September 16, 2022, a workshop "The Practice of Implementing Recommendation 33 (Statistics). Improving Statistical Reporting on Collection, Analysis and Consolidation of AML/CFT Data in order to Implement Recommendation 33 (Statistics)" for financial intelligence units, supervisory, law enforcement and other interested state bodies of the EAG member states was held via videoconferencing.

The event, organized by the ITMCFM on the initiative of the FIUs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, was attended by representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The following invited expert lecturers delivered presentations at the workshop: Advisor to the Director of Rosfinmonitoring M. Valueva and Deputy Head of the Department for Countering the Legalization of Proceeds from Drug Trafficking of the Directorate for Organizing Operational and Preventive Measures, Countering the Drug Threat in the Field of IT Technologies and Legalization of Drug Proceeds of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation E. Firsova. Using the example of the experience of the Russian Federation, they told about improving statistical reporting on collection, analysis and consolidation of AML/CFT data, as well as about updating statistical approaches in the criminal law segment for the purpose of implementing the Methodology for Assessing Technical Compliance with the FATF Recommendations and the Effectiveness of AML/CFT Systems.

The final part of the workshop was held in the format of a round table, where participants heard and discussed cases of foreign colleagues on the best practices of implementation of Recommendation 33 in the national anti-money laundering systems.
