A two-day seminar aimed at training and exchanging experience on conducting risk assessments in the NPO sector and implementing Recommendation 8 has concluded.
The event, held via videoconference, was attended by EAG FIUs and competent authorities.
A representative of Rosfinmonitoring shared the Russian experience in assessing risks in the NPO sector with colleagues.
Participants were briefed on amendments to the International AML/CFT/CPF Standards affecting the activities of non-profit organizations by Mikhail Kolinchenko, a representative of the EAG Secretariat.
He noted that the latest updates have significantly shifted the paradigm of approaches to formulating and assessing the requirements of the Standards with respect to NPOs, establishing not only a minimum threshold for applied measures but also a maximum threshold, effectively imposing limitation on the actions of national competent authorities.
The seminar, as well as the subsequent exchange of country experience among participants, will assist member states in further strengthening their national AML/CFT systems and preparing for the new round of mutual evaluations.
