The V International Olympiad on Financial Security, held at Siberian Federal University in Krasnoyarsk from September 29 to October 3, has officially concluded. Approximately 600 school and university students from 40 countries made it to the finals. A total of 188 participants (27 school and 161 university students) were announced winners and runners-up.
At the closing ceremony, Yury Chikhanchin, Head of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, addressed the participants:
“Today, we conclude the V International Olympiad on Financial Security. For the first time, it was held in Krasnoyarsk, in the very heart of Russia. I am proud to say that each of you, the finalists, is already a winner. Over these five days, you have demonstrated remarkable perseverance and capability. I congratulate all the winners and runners-up and wish every participant continued success and new achievements!”
Mr. Chikhanchin expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Russian Federation and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and personally Governor Mikhail Kotyukov, the staff of Siberian Federal University, as well as the organizers and partners of the Olympiad for their comprehensive support and for ensuring the high standard of the event.
Governor Mikhail Kotyukov congratulated the winners and runners-up, stating:
“Dear friends, it has been an eventful week, and many have closely followed the Olympiad and its activities. I want to thank all of you for the unforgettable emotions! Over the past days, you have participated in workshops, discussions, meetings with distinguished professionals, and academic competitions. Life will present new challenges, and I am confident that you are prepared to meet them. Congratulations to all winners and runners-up! You have forged new friendships and connections that will serve you well. You are welcome here any time – whether for the next Olympiad or simply to visit with your friends and families. Our goal is to make sure everyone feels at home.”
The solemn ceremony featured speeches by Nikolai Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation; and Petr Fradkov, Chairman of PSB Bank. The speakers congratulated the winners and runners-up and presented them with diplomas and awards.
During the closing ceremony, it was announced that Krasnoyarsk would once again host the Olympiad in 2026, following the Committee’s review of applications submitted by various regions.

The International Olympiad on Financial Security has been held annually since 2021 under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Russian Federation.
The Olympiad is organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, and member universities of the International Network AML/CFT Institute (INI). The event is coordinated by the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring.
This year’s finals brought together representatives from around 40 countries, including first-time participants from Bangladesh, Jordan, Madagascar, Turkey, and Uruguay.
The fifth Olympiad featured more than 100 professional, educational, sporting, and cultural events, including expert lectures, workshops, panel discussions, field trips, and athletic competitions.
Winners and runners-up of the Olympiad receive first-priority admission benefits for bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate programs at INI member universities, as well as internship opportunities with the Federal Financial Monitoring Service and partner institutions.
