More than 30 specialists from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan responsible for mutual evaluation and follow-up procedures took part in a five-day training course organized by the EAG Secretariat at the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring. The program covered the full cycle of an assessor’s work: from initial testing and analysis of risks and context to assessing the effectiveness of AML/CFT systems and preparing recommendations.
Participants systematically worked through the mutual evaluation methodology, the analysis of technical compliance and Immediate Outcomes, as well as data and statistics collection and processing. The practical component focused on exercises, team-based work on country cases, and the preparation of structured reports, including key findings, recommended actions, and an implementation roadmap.
Assessors practiced participating in plenary meetings, presenting mutual evaluation results and discussing key recommendations, as well as interacting with financial supervisory authorities, law enforcement agencies, and supervised entities. Final assignments involved preparing written country reports, analyzing the effectiveness of measures, and formulating key findings and proposals for next steps.
Based on the final test results, specialists from national systems demonstrated improved competencies in applying the FATF Methodology during mutual evaluations and follow-up.
