More than 65 thousand people participated in main stages of V International Olympiad on Financial Security

Krasnoyarsk hosted a meeting of the organizing committee for the V International Olympiad on Financial Security under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko. The Olympiad finals are scheduled to take place in Krasnoyarsk from September 28 to October 4, 2025.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, Yury Chikhanchin; Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Region, Mikhail Kotyukov; Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dmitry Afanasev; Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Nikolay Zhuravlev, as well as representatives of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation, the Government Office of the Russian Federation, federal ministries and agencies, the International Training and Methodology Centre for Financial Monitoring (ITMCFM), the International Network AML/CFT Institute member universities, and Olympiad partner organizations.

Mr. Chernyshenko emphasized the growing importance of the Olympiad and noted strong interest among young people:

“The key stages of the Olympiad have been completed, with more than 65 thousand participants. Much has already been accomplished. School and university students from newly integrated regions have taken part in various pre-contest activities, including a thematic lesson on financial security. We have a comprehensive roadmap for hosting the finals in Krasnoyarsk, along with a refreshed communications strategy for both the Olympiad and the broader International Movement on Financial Security,” said Deputy Prime Minister.

Yury Chikhanchin provided an update on the progress of final preparations and outlined the program for the concluding week:

“About 600 school and university students from about 40 countries will compete in the finals. More than 80 events are scheduled for the young people across four main areas: educational, professional, cultural & ethical, and athletic. The agenda will traditionally include panel discussions, workshops, interactive master classes, and educational activities," said the Director of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.

Among the new features this year is the “Artistic Olympiad,” which will showcase traditional national costumes. A photography exhibition and sports competitions are also planned. Additionally, the Olympiad will serve as a platform for the International Forum entitled “Risks of New Technologies: Dialogue of Generations on Financial Security” and a number of expert-level meetings.

The Rosfinmonitoring’s Director announced the results of this year’s financial security lessons held throughout Russia and abroad. These lessons were jointly organized by the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).

“I would like to highlight the extensive reach of our financial security education initiative. This year, approximately 3.5 million Russian students took part. We also conducted lessons in several dozen foreign countries, with instructional materials translated into six languages. In addition, as part of the work of the International Movement on Financial Security, in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Labor, for the first time training sessions were delivered in more than 250 Russian social security institutions,” stated Mr. Chikhanchin.

Governor of the Krasnoyarsk region, Mikhail Kotyukov, confirmed that preparations for the final stage of the Olympiad are proceeding according to plan:

“We are honored and fully committed to hosting the Olympiad here in Krasnoyarsk, the easternmost major city in Russia, located at the very heart of the country. As the city approaches its 400th anniversary, this event offers a unique opportunity to showcase our improved infrastructure and hospitality readiness. I can confidently state that all preparations are on track. By the time the Olympiad finals begin, we will be ready to demonstrate a high level of organizational excellence.”

The meeting concluded with a discussion of other key matters concerning the organization and holding of the Olympiad.
