On August 17, ITMCFM hosted the project on Exchanging Best Practices in Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism as part of the New Generation program. The program brought together delegates from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan for professional dialogue, experience sharing, and joint work on current issues in the development of national AML/CFT systems.
Opening the event, Director of Rosfinmonitoring Yury Chikhanchin and Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Igor Chaika welcomed the participants. They expressed hope that the program would provide a platform for professional growth, substantive dialogue, and productive joint work.
On the first day of the program, the delegates formed teams and selected topics for their project work. The project results will be presented at the closing event following the week-long training program.
The program covers current financial security challenges: new models for laundering criminal proceeds in the digital financial environment, risks arising from the misuse of artificial intelligence, international cooperation among financial intelligence units, and FIU analyst competencies. A separate module focuses on crypto compliance, blockchain transaction analysis, monitoring cryptocurrency exchanges, and countering financial fraud.
Working visits to the Bank of Russia and VTB Bank are also planned. Participants will learn about the practical application of modern analytical tools and cooperation between FIUs and the private sector.
