Workshop on Strategic Analysis: National and International Experience in Preparing for the 3rd Round of EAG Mutual Evaluations concludes in Bishkek

On October 8-9, Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, hosted an in-person workshop focused on the exchange of experience in preparing for the upcoming round of EAG mutual evaluations, with particular attention to enhancing the effectiveness of strategic analysis within AML/CFT systems. The event was organized by ITMCFM, the EAG Secretariat, and the State Financial Intelligence Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, with support from the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek.

FIU specialists from Russia, India, and Uzbekistan presented their national experience and best practices in strategic analysis, analytical report development, and interagency cooperation. A representative of the EAG Secretariat delivered a speech on general issues related to strategic analysis.

ITMCFM specialists reported on the Centre's training activities aimed at improving the effectiveness of anti-money laundering systems within the EAG, the most demanded topics of such programs, and available training formats.

The event included a panel discussion with invited international experts. The attendees discussed, among other topics, the definition and classification of predicate offences related to money laundering, the use of big data, and interagency cooperation in conducting strategic analysis.

The workshop concluded with the formulation of concrete proposals and recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the Kyrgyz Republic’s national strategic analysis system, improving risk assessment methodologies, and introducing advanced analytical approaches.
