A four-day seminar to prepare the national team for the EAG third round of mutual evaluations was held at the National Bank of Tajikistan in Dushanbe from June 8 to 11, 2026. The programme was practice-oriented and aimed to provide participants with comprehensive preparation for the mutual evaluation procedures.
Over the four days, participants reviewed the key requirements of the EAG and FATF Methodology for national risk assessments and mutual evaluations; the assessment of preventive measures in AML/CFT/CPF; the use of financial intelligence and international cooperation; and the specific aspects of investigating and prosecuting ML and TF offences, including confiscation and asset recovery.
Particular attention was paid to practical preparations for the on-site visit by the assessment team. Participants reviewed the arrangements for and approaches to conducting interviews, took part in mock sessions involving experts and representatives of government authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan, and conducted a horizontal analysis of mutual evaluation reports.
On the sidelines of the event, ITMCFM representatives also presented the FIU of Tajikistan with a copy of D. Kunev’s monograph, published in 2025, entitled “Legal Regulation of Cross-Border Tracing, Freezing, Confiscation and Return of Assets in Jurisdictions around the World”.
The simulation training strengthened the readiness of the national team of the Republic of Tajikistan for the EAG third round of mutual evaluations, improved coordination among the authorities involved and enhanced the quality of the materials being prepared. This format helps develop a unified approach to presenting the national AML/CFT/CPF system and improves the effectiveness of interagency cooperation.
The seminar was held in conjunction with training provided by the EAG Secretariat on preparing an assessed country for a mutual evaluation, which ensured additional methodological support and reinforced the practical focus of the preparations.
