ITMCFM representative participates in conference on science and education in law enforcement at Uzbekistan’s Law Enforcement Academy

On June 19th, Tashkent, Uzbekistan hosted a two-day International Research & Practice Conference on Current Threats and Challenges to Law Enforcement in Digital Transformation Era. The event was attended by foreign and national experts in the field of science, education, and practical activities, as well as representatives of international organizations.

The conference served as a platform for in-depth discussion and analysis of innovative approaches to the education and training of law enforcement personnel, review of issues of combating corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/FT), and cybercrime, as well as the formulation of recommendations to address emerging challenges and threats.

The agenda featured specialized breakout sessions for knowledge exchange and a roundtable discussion on pressing issues.

Vladimir Ovchinnikov, First Deputy Director General of ITMCFM and Head of the International Network AML/CFT Institute, spoke at the session on Current Issues of Science and Education in Law Enforcement. He emphasized the critical importance of sustaining high human resource potential to ensure national financial security.

“In our efforts to safeguard financial security, specialized education plays a crucial role in training officers for law enforcement agencies, who stand at the forefront of the fight against continuously evolving criminal threats. For over a decade, the International Network AML/CFT Institute has been fulfilling this mission, uniting the educational and scientific centers of member states in preparing AML/CFT professionals,” he stated.

Mr. Ovchinnikov further highlighted the Institute’s priorities, which include the continuous enhancement of academic curricula in response to emerging challenges and technological advancements, the integration of IT solutions and digital platforms for remote learning, and the expansion of applied research activities.
