On June 11, ITMCFM hosted the remote seminar “Training FIU Staff in Best Practices for Analysing Transaction Reports and Reports on the Import and Export of Declared Goods and Other Property Into and Out of a Country”.
The event aimed to improve the effectiveness of financial intelligence units. It brought together representatives of FIUs, law enforcement agencies and supervisory authorities of EAG member states.
Participants examined practical approaches to analysing reports on transactions and data on the cross-border movement of declared goods and property. They discussed the identification of suspicious activity indicators, the comparison of different data sets and the use of this information to counter the laundering of criminal proceeds and concealment of assets.
The programme presented best analytical practices and examples of the risk-based approach. It also addressed ways to improve interagency cooperation when processing financial information.
Participants noted the importance of such events for increasing the effectiveness of national AML/CFT systems, exchanging experience and strengthening international professional cooperation.
