On February 9–13, 2026, the fifth plenary meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) was held in Mexico City, Mexico, under the presidency of Elisa de Anda Madrazo.
Delegations discussed current issues related to combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The plenary considered and adopted the mutual evaluation reports of Austria, Italy, and Singapore under the new round of mutual evaluations, assessing the effectiveness of their AML/CFT measures and their level of compliance with the FATF Recommendations. Following the completion of the quality and consistency review process, the reports will be published on the FATF website.
FATF also approved new publications addressing cyber-enabled fraud and virtual assets. Final reports examining the use of stablecoins and unhosted wallets, the risks posed by offshore virtual asset service providers, as well as fraud involving digital technologies, will be made available on the FATF official website.
The status of the Russian Federation within FATF remains unchanged. Its membership continues to be suspended pursuant to a politicized decision adopted in February 2023. Kuwait and Papua New Guinea were added to the FATF “grey list,” while the “black list” remains unchanged.
