On April 14–15, the Intergovernmental Meeting on Enhancing the Use of Beneficial Ownership Information to Strengthen Asset Recovery was held in Vienna, Republic of Austria, under the auspices of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Vitaly Karpovich, representing the Legal Department of the Federal Financial Monitoring Service, participated in the event. In his statement, he highlighted the Russian Federation’s legal framework aimed at ensuring the transparency of beneficial ownership of legal entities and trusts.
Mr. Karpovich emphasized the inadmissibility of politicizing issues related to international anti-crime cooperation and stressed the importance of strengthening the international legal framework for asset recovery.
The Russian delegation outlined its implementation of the revised FATF Recommendations 24 and 25, illustrating effective enforcement through concrete examples and measures for liability.
During the Intergovernmental Meeting, delegates exchanged best practices in enhancing beneficial ownership transparency, strengthening international anti-crime cooperation, and improving asset recovery mechanisms.
