Federal Financial Monitoring Service delegation attends the MENAFATF Plenary Meeting

The 40th Plenary Meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) was held in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The meeting was attended by delegates from the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.

The Russian delegation reaffirmed its full readiness to host the upcoming EAG/MENAFATF Forum on Risk Management in the Era of Emerging Technologies, scheduled for May this year in Moscow. An invitation was extended to their counterparts to participate in the event, which will be held alongside the Plenary Week of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (EAG).

In their statements, the Russian representatives emphasized the significance of an ongoing research initiative focused on countering the financing of terrorist organizations. The Plenary Meeting endorsed the involvement of MENAFATF member states in this initiative.

The Russian side also expressed its willingness to provide technical assistance to MENAFATF member states to enhance the resilience of their national AML/CFT frameworks ahead of the next round of mutual evaluations.

Additionally, representatives of the Russian FIU briefed international partners on the upcoming International Olympiad on Financial Security and invited youth from the Middle East and North Africa to participate.

The delegation reiterated the Russian Federation’s commitment to fostering AML/CFT international cooperation and to maintaining a constructive, non-politicized dialogue at all levels.

Since 2021, the Russian Federation has held observer status with MENAFATF.
