Deputy Head of Rosfinmonitoring Anton Lisitsyn spoke at a plenary session titled “Russia’s Technological Independence in the Modern World. Challenges and Opportunities” held as part of the open conference organized by the Ivannikov Institute for System Programming of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISP RAS).
The event is taking place from December 9 to 10 at the Lomonosov Innovation Cluster with the participation of relevant agencies, IT companies, experts, and academicians.
In his address, Mr. Lisitsyn underscored the importance of close cooperation among government bodies, the private sector, and professional and scientific communities in combating crime, including through the use of information and communication technologies.
According to the Deputy Head of the Service, financial intelligence activities increasingly rely on advanced technologies in response to contemporary challenges. This work is being undertaken in close partnership with ISP RAS.
“The use of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies is unavoidable. We are working in this area jointly with the Institute. We are implementing – and, in practice, have already implemented – a language model that enables us to address a number of tasks and significantly improve the effectiveness of identifying illicit schemes related to money laundering and terrorist financing,” said Mr. Lisitsyn.
Earlier, Director of Rosfinmonitoring Yury Chikhanchin, RAS President Gennady Krasnikov, ISP RAS Director Arutyun Avetisyan concluded a cooperation and information exchange agreement.
The areas of cooperation include developing and implementing digital technologies, including big data analytics based on trusted artificial intelligence technologies used in developing AML/CFT/CPF system.
The partnership is also aimed at improving effectiveness, expanding the scope and quality of research and development activities, advancing fundamental research in the formation of the national anti-money laundering system, and strengthening human capital.
