Boris Toropov, Advisor to the Director of Rosfinmonitoring, took part in a BRICS seminar on depoliticized cooperation in criminal law. The seminar was held from June 23 to 25 at the Moscow World Trade Center.
The event was opened by Sergey Stepashin, Chairman of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, and Ilya Rogachev, Ambassador-at-Large and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cooperation in Criminal Law. The Russian interagency delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor General's Office, and Rosfinmonitoring.
Mr. Toropov delivered a report in which he emphasized the necessity of preserving the apolitical nature of international forums addressing anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing cooperation.
Speakers underscored the significance of developing legal institutions that guarantee impartial judicial proceedings, promoting the depoliticization of international cooperation platforms, and ensuring unwavering adherence to universally recognized international legal instruments. These principles are essential to reinforcing mutual trust and maintaining stable international relations.
Participants engaged in substantive dialogue on enhancing cross-border cooperation among law enforcement agencies in the fight against transnational crime.
